Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.

What to Watch for Week of October 15

ADOT is committed to continuing work with the community throughout this roadway improvement project.  Please remember that two-way traffic is continuing to flow, and business access is clearly marked.

Work South of the Village of Oak Creek

The pedestrian path that will connect the new Forest Ranger Station with the Village of Oak Creek is taking shape along the east side of SR 179.  A wireline is installed to prepare for the curb and gutter work. Utility companies also are working on the east side of the road to bring services to the new Ranger Station.

Traffic has been switched onto new pavement on the east side of SR 179 through most of the Village of Oak Creek.  Crews will be working from south to north to install the new driveways along the route.  Representatives of the team are working with each business along the way to coordinate the driveway work.  Watch for blue business access signs to guide you to                                                      businesses.

The first modern roundabout intersection to be completed in the Village of Oak Creek will be at Ridge Trail, followed by Bell Rock Boulevard.  The Jacks Canyon and Cortez intersections also will function using modern roundabouts. 

Work in the Forest

The two new bridges are nearly complete, and cleanup work is underway.  The entire new alignment is graded and being prepared for pavement.  All work is being closely coordinated with the US Forest Service.

Work in Sedona

The first roundabout to be completed on the entire project will be at Back O Beyond Road.  Final preparations are underway to complete this roundabout, and traffic is moving through the intersection. Please be attentive to the instructions of flaggers. 
 
Utility companies also are working in the city limits to move their lines, pipes, and cables out of the way of the upcoming road improvements.
