New Work

City of Sedona Broken Arrow Subdivision Overlay Starting May 27

The City of Sedona will begin the process of overlaying the streets in the Broken Arrow Subdivision (east of SR 179) beginning May 27. The streets that will be overlayed are: Morgan Road, Columbia Drive, Paramount Drive, Painted Canyon Drive, Pinon Court, Cypress Drive, Cypress Court, Juniper Way, and Navajo Trail. Work hours will be 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. There is an expected completion date of June 6. Residents should expect minor traffic delays with re-routing of traffic. Brewer Brothers Contracting will perform the work. For questions, please contact Dan Neimy, Street Maintenance Superintendent, City of Sedona Public Works Department, at 204-7109.

Night Work from Canyon Road to Oak Creek Bridge

Beginning June 1, a two-week period of night work will occur between Canyon Road and Oak Creek Bridge. The crews will be placing storm drain “laterals,” which are pipes that cross under SR 179 to convey storm water to the newly installed storm drain system. Flaggers will be on hand every night to help mitigate traffic impacts and make it as easy as possible to get through the area.

Ongoing Work

Temporary Re-Routing of Morgan Rd

Construction continues on Morgan Road. This is projected to be complete by the end of the week, weather permitting.

Four Retaining Walls at Ranger and SR 179

Crews are simultaneously working on four retaining walls in the vicinity of SR 179 and Ranger Road. The first is in front of the Sedona Motel (L-20 and L-20A), the second is along Ranger Road (L-19), the third is adjacent to the Tlaquepaque parking lot (L-17), and the fourth is in front of Secret Garden Café (L-16).

SR 89A Returns to Two Lanes East Bound

For the week of May 26, SR 89A will be two lanes east bound and one lane west bound.

Underground Work in Business District

The installation of storm drain, manholes, catch basins, a new gas line, and other underground items is ongoing. Crews continue to work in the middle of the road in front of Tlaquepaque on the complex installation of necessary items to convey storm water and run it through a filtering system prior to being allowed into Oak Creek. Crews will be working along the west side of the road in front of Hozho and Garlands to install new gas, electrical, and telecommunication lines. As always, two-way traffic and business access are maintained.

Bridge Construction

Bridge construction at Oak Creek is ongoing. For safety reasons, pedestrians are asked to stay clear of the construction area.

Project 1

Ongoing Work

Safety & Traffic Control

Please observe all traffic signs, speed limits and remain alert for construction personnel, flaggers and equipment.

Paving new North Bound Alignment in Forest

Pending material availability and weather, paving work will begin on the newly rebuilt North Bound alignment in the Forest Section between the Village and Sedona.

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.
