What to Watch for Week of March 31
ADOT will host our monthly "Construction Chat" on Thursday, April 3, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Project Office in the Village of Oak Creek. This event is open to the community, and construction team members will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions. The Project Office is located at 70 Bell Rock Plaza, Suite C.
In May, Construction Chat will move to the City of Sedona and the Project Office will be closed to the public to allow the construction team to focus on quickly and efficiently completing the project.

Project 1
Bicycles in Roundabouts
Please note that bicycles have the option of acting as pedestrians (by walking their bikes across the crosswalks) or as vehicles in roundabout intersections. Bicycles should be given a full lane width to negotiate the roundabout, and be yielded to in the circle like any vehicle. The speed in a roundabout is slow enough (<20 mph) that a bicycle will not slow down the roadway operation, and the bicycles have the right to share the road. It has been noted that many drivers are disregarding bicyclists’ rights in the roundabouts. When the final striping is in this summer, bike lanes and crosswalks will be clearly marked. As always, please be courteous on the road to ALL users.
Village Nearly Complete
All new driveways are complete and final work is being done on the roadway and medians through the Village. Completion of the Village is anticipated within the next few weeks.
Traffic Switch Moved to Early April
In order to ensure that no traffic-impacting activities need to occur on the new alignment prior to putting traffic there, the traffic switch has been delayed until sometime in April.
Project 2
New Post Office Driveway
The new Post Office driveway will be opening at the beginning of the week. It is approximately 75 feet east of the existing driveway. The existing driveway will be closed and preparation work will begin for the Brewer Roundabout, including construction of a retaining wall on the southwest corner of SR 89A and Brewer Road near the Coldwell Banker Building.

Storm Drain Installation Ranger to the Y
Crews will begin working on installing the new storm drain system. The storm drain work will start at the Y and proceed south, along the west side (or southbound side) of SR179. It should take about one month to reach Ranger Road; however, it is important to note that unforeseen conflicts with utilities and hard rock are common in this area, and those encounters can cause delays.
Traffic Control on SR 89A, Forest to Brewer
Drivers will notice the placement of traffic control devices such as concrete barriers or orange and white barricades to channel traffic and allow for a construction zone on the north side of SR 89A. One lane of traffic will continue to flow in each direction. The use of various turn lanes will be restricted which may cause some traffic slowing due as cars must wait for vehicles to turn from the through lane, but this is a temporary construction condition. Thank you for your patience.
Work Continues on Box Culverts and Retaining Walls
Three box culverts and one retaining wall are under construction south of the business district along SR 179. All of the structures are ahead of schedule. In addition, clearing will begin to prepare for construction of a retaining wall just south of Canyon.
Work on Sewer Line from Morgan Road to Pine Drive
A new sewer for the City of Sedona is currently under construction from Morgan Road to Pine Drive along the east side of the road.
Bridge Work
The bridge abutment on the east bank of Oak Creek is currently being formed and the piers for the west abutments and bridge columns will be on-going through for the next couple of months as long as the water levels in Oak Creek continue to allow for construction activities.
Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always be known in advance.
